About Abida Rasheed

Abida Rasheed is a celebrated champion of traditional Mappila (Moplah) cuisine from Kerala’s Malabar coast. Raised in a family where food, stories, and culture were deeply intertwined, she began learning to cook at her grandmother’s side while still very young. Over the years, this early training grew into a rare expertise in the flavours, rituals, and history of Moplah food.

Today, Abida is recognized not only for the authenticity of her recipes but also for the way she preserves the stories, techniques, and cultural nuances behind every dish.

Roots in Malabar, Stories in Every Dish

Abida’s culinary journey is shaped by two iconic food destinations of North Kerala: Calicut (Kozhikode), where her family has deep roots, and Kannur, her late husband Mohammed Rasheed’s hometown. The coming together of these two regions created a unique blend of tastes and traditions that define Abida’s signature style.

From festive biryanis and layered pathiris to coastal seafood specialties, her food reflects the everyday kitchen wisdom of Malabar homes and the celebratory feasts that have welcomed guests for generations.

Our Philosophy

At the heart of Abida’s work is a belief that food is more than taste; it is memory, identity, and connection. Each jar of masala, each batch of pickle, and each carefully prepared product is a continuation of her grandmother’s kitchen, her family traditions, and the rich culinary heritage of Malabar.
